About Me

Slumping Bottles
My inspiration to slump bottles came from the internet.  When I bought my first glass fusing kiln,  I stumbled across an article explaining the bottle slumping technique.  I thought it would be a low cost, great way for me to learn about heating, cooling and shaping glass .  I knew my family, friends and neighbors would jump on board and support my cause and they have all been wonderful (they've been known to go dumpster diving occassionally).  They also help collect odd things at my request; like bubble wrap, jar lids and rusty washers.

My first slumping project was to simply flatten a bottle.  Seemed simple enough, but needed lots of tweaking.  My first project was filled with bubbles and had a very cloudy surface.  It took me about a year to come up with a method that works most of the time, and  I'm still making adjustments.  I like to push things to the limit to see what the outcome will be.

I feel that I have created a line of  merchandise that you cannot find in most stores.  With the world moving to a greener environment, I am jumping on the band wagon by taking something that would otherwise be thrown out and creating a unique, useable item.

I've created the bottles you see on this site.  It's been such an exciting experiment and keeps me motivated to come up with new merchandise.

Fused Art Glass

Sometimes I crave to work with more colors than bottle glass has to offer.  I buy sheet glass in many different colors, then cut, arrange, heat and cool the glass to create whatever my whim is.

Glass fusing is a popular craft.  Many make jewelry.  I've worked with our county 4-H'ers to make silly face magnets from glass shards.  It's incredible how artistic one can be without even trying.  My favorite thing about glass fusing is that you do not have to be precise.  The glass softens and turns an imperfect cut into a perfect line.  Amazing!

I have lots of ideas floating around in my head just waiting to be brought to life.  Stop by often to see what is new.
